Deep cleaning is more thorough and takes more time, special instruments and usually takes 2 appointments. It is normally recommended as the first phase of therapy for gum disease.
Deep cleanings will involve carefully cleaning away any buildup of plaque and tartar that are below, above and on the pockets of the gum.
