Gum Treatment

Deep Cleaning

Deep cleaning is a procedure done to alleviate gum swelling, inflammation and bleeding due to plaque and tartar build up along gum lines and tooth roots. It is a non-invasive and non-surgical gum treatment that can ease gum disease and prevent it from becoming more severe.

When do you need a deep cleaning?

If you experience any of the following symptoms of gum disease, come visit us so we can diagnose your gum disease and book you in for a deep cleaning:

  • Dwelling or redness along your gums
  • Bleeding when you brush or floss
  • Receding gum lines
  • Chronic bad breath
  • Movement or shifting of your teeth
  • Food is getting stuck under your gums or between your teeth

Deep cleaning vs regular cleaning

Regular dental cleanings are preventative in nature. It is recommended that everyone has a cleaning every 6 months.

Deep cleaning is more thorough and takes more time, special instruments and usually takes 2 appointments. It is normally recommended as the first phase of therapy for gum disease.
